Listed on this page are a range of different charities. We welcome any suggestions – that might appeal to a younger crowd and we’ll consider adding it to this page.
KIDS: You can choose one or more charities… and you DON’T have to choose one from this list!! The whole point of this Run/Walk is that “everyone is different”, “everyone has different interests and passions toward different things.” Make your own choice and let us know what it is when you register.
There are many, many different roads you can take when choosing a charity:
- Help animals – either endangered or in need of some other kind of help. Here’s an example of the SHARK that my brother adopted. He named his shark BOB 🙂
- Help cure a disease – that you have a connection to because of a family member or friend
- Help with “awareness” of some sort of issue
- Help build something
- Help a non-profit organization
Good luck with your own personal fundraiser and we’ll see you on the track!
Heifer International’s mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth. “Passing on the Gift” means recipients agree to share the offspring of gift animals with others in need, making them equal partners with Heifer in the fight to end world hunger.

PO Box 214

AVERYday Ministries, Inc. is a non-profit organization (501c3 pending) seeking to plant seeds of discipleship to grow great Christians and engage young people with God. Through music, literature, and other means that appeal to fledgling minds. AVERYday finds purpose in exciting, inspiring, capturing and igniting young people for Jesus and establish understanding and recognition of who Jesus is and what it is to live for Him.
In its simplest form, we are introducing the world to Jesus and planting seeds of faith.
After 11-year old Avery Johanna was unexpectedly called home to be with her Father, Jesus Christ, AVERYday Ministries was created to give voice to her faith. Avery was incredibly faith filled. She had a special place in her heart for helping others, gymnastics, music and dance, and reading. Following her example of loving Jesus unashamed throughout all her favorite activities, AVERYday Ministries promises to tell the world about Jesus through everyday, seemingly ordinary events… and some pretty incredible events, too.

A hot meal delivered to victims after a disaster, blood when it is needed most, shelter when there is nowhere else to turn, an emergency message delivered to a member of the Armed Forces from their family — these are just some of the ways that gifts are put to work through the American Red Cross. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the American Red Cross is empowering people to perform extraordinary acts in the face of emergencies.

** Don’t see a charity that you like? You don’t have to choose one of these. Find one that does mean something to you and let us know what it is.
Parents: Still need a little help assisting your child with an appropriate charity choice?
- What does your child currently have a passion for? Here are a few examples: a specific animal, a period of time in history, a specific country
- What topic at school has your child shown interest in or really enjoyed learning about? Example: Space or exploration
- Do you have a family member or friend who is sick (and your child has shown and interest in helping in some way)? Example: Find a charity that relates to the illness
- Have you volunteered in your community and your child enjoyed helping? Example: Salvation Army bell ringing
SHARKS – Example: My brother is very interested in sharks. He found a charity which works to advance the worldwide conservation of sharks through science, education, influence and action. This charity’s vision is a world where sharks thrive within a globally healthy marine ecosystem. To make it more interesting, this charity allows you to ADOPT-A-SHARK http://www.sharktrust.org. You can adopt either a Basking, a Great White shark or a Whale shark – to support shark research and conservation. Last year, my brother did raise enough money for a Great White Shark – and he named his shark “BOB”.
